Personality & Traits
General Overview | Though Half American, Saulius is a cool-headed, slow burning Russian, quite fond of military tactics and the all-mighty bait-and-bash strategy. He learned computer skills, self-defense and firearms training in Murmansk and Siberia whilst learning how to hunt wild animals with his mother, an avid hunter and adventress. Couple that with the old soviet ways of policework and a Spetznaz systema conditioning, Saulius is wise to be disguised as the constantly-studious 'schoolboy' in the bridge or lounge. He has excellent hearing and a brick wall-to-treadmill barrier against most mind affecting abilities. He tends to wear tinted glasses that turn clear due to an eye sensor on the inside their frame. |

Strengths & Weaknesses | Police Conditioning - Physically and menally strong yet patient, Excellent rifle and small arms fighter, lightning-fast wrestler and take-down man. Essentially lives in armories, fighter cockpits or simulators 9 hours a day after the daily excersize-meditation. Has seen most types of weaponry used throughout a rough by choice career in starfleet security often serving as a ship's commanding officer, no larger than a wing of attack craft, taking bits of information from each battle, often learned in blood. Gear Head - Knows how to combine and unorthodoxically hotwire weapons and some computers, (but knows little about engineering itself, apart from, say, hotwiring unused torpedoes and spare parts to intensify phaser fire, or venting fuel into a reactor to give a sudden escape jolt in a quick-getaway). Tactician - Being Half American and Half Russian, both parents grew up exchanging battlefield talk (both had family members who fought in every east versus west war since the Napoleonic wars, her side had French heritage before coming to America) at dinner table exchanges, Saulius himself focused more on the intelligence-gathering to be prepared, and was angled into the police work his father grew up doing back in East Russia, at odds with the aliens who dealt with the Yakuza and Russian Mafia. Saulius pledged to work in Starfleet to help his father flush them out on his end of the investigation, while his mother protected his brothers at home, training them also for battle, lest there be another attack on earth on the scale of the Jem'Hadar Earth assault. |

Personal History | The son of a Russian Cop and an American Hunter, Saulius Czaarin felt he was born to be an effective modern warrior, but with the spirit of his heritage, not welcome fully from either former superpower in either of his parents' respective hometowns. Ironic, given the last world war was centuries ago. Saulius served a starfleet career, unquestioningly volunteering for the most suicidal or outlandish missions that stood little to no chance of survival, merely claiming "Becooz everyone else loves their lives more than whatever else is at stake, simple." His lead-from-the front mandated he trained whoever was best in whatever crew he was handed, took them under his wing and made them better by performing live-fire training, disguising it as a holoprogram, training with real fear, real adrenaline then informing his students of the reality of their actual drills were no different to the situation at hand. He served as demolitions when tasked with working with the marines in certain joint-ops mission postings. Because of his ruthless and acceptable-losses mentality that always achieved complete-if-possible or better results, Saulius has risen and fallen from the Starfleet Ranks, at a time holding a full Commander rank, but with no medals to his name. The most evident proof is what starfleet deemed an irresponsible handling of a critical escort mission. His Nova-Class, the *Thresher remained facing the bridge of a hostile negh-var class battleship, battering its bridge instead of pursuing its complement of attacking vessels that ultimately destroyed his primary escort target, a battle-damaged Sovereign-class Starship. Commander Czaarin shut off his communicator when ordered by Starfleet Command to ignore the negh'var, and drew his phaser on the security detail tasked to relieve the commander of his station. Threatening them with Mutiny (and by taking off his upper uniform to his muscle shirt, he held command enough to assure his helmsman were able to maintain a position at point blank distance from the negh'var's bridge, away from their danger zones without a fear of hitting their own bridge as the Nova-class drained its shields but destroyed the monster's bridge, then causing the Klingon warship's destruction, bit by bit after taking out its communications and engines, relying on schematics once the larger warship vainly cloaked. In the End, Saulius' vessel was the only surviving warship, and per his orders, every last detail was to be submitted as evidence, before surrenedering himself to security ("The highest setting before Starfleet Security Headquarters.") The Court Martial has yet to rule, but Saulius Czaarin's ruthless but effective history is weighted against this recent charge of insubordination resulting in the deaths and destruction of an entire convoy, given the testimonials that report he made futile rescue attempts to save survivors from every ship that made it, ("Qvite minimal, given the low-level supplies directed to my unit. The dark color on your insignia, admiral? Their blooud. The blood on mine? All pirate criminal. Man up to your stupid mistakes as I have for mine."). The recent court martial has drawn up quite a stir throughout the fleet, with a minority on Saulius' side, who argue that 3 Nova-class starships would've been utterly massacred against a negh'var. Some of these are the junior officers and a margin of mid-level officers on the panel. Rumor has it the Klingon Empire, emberassed by such a feat have allegedly been behind recent security breaches and assassination attempts, though reports of such have been dismissed. |
