Mission: Session 3: Fear of the Dark
Location: Engine room

On:

Jones ran down through the interior of the ship with his two friends and crew right behind. "Lets try not to kill the Orion woman... I think she holds the key to all of this and I want to find out who she is officially working for."

"Plus the fact that she's Orion," Lottie said undertoned.

"Well that is secondary pleasure of course, but I can't question her if she is dead." Jones smiled at her and then proceeded down the hallway and stopped just short of the main engineering door. "Alright, here is the plan, Jan pop the canisters, and then we'll try not to kill them all? Sound good?"

Jan hooked up the canister to the environmental systems, and turned a blue lever to the left.

"Alright, it's primed, we turn the red wheel clockwise to activate the canister." Jan said.

"Alright go ahead and hit it."

"Make sure you don't take any deep breaths in there 'k?" Jan said, activating the gas.

"Thank you for stating the obvious Valentine but I think we all knew that," Lottie glared itching to finish this and eject the boarding party from the ship.

"That's what I'm here for, other than keeping the ship from falling to pieces every 5 minutes." Jan said, pulling out his pair of EM-33's.

"Mistress, I can't reach any of the others, I think they got iced." A rather intimidating Andorian stood up from the comm link he had been carrying. "Orders"

"This is a wash, back to the ship, we'll just tow them back to the nearest outpost. Are the charges on the core?" The Orion woman checked the charge on her phaser rifle and then over to a Bajoran who was wiring up some explosives.

"Just finished mistress."

"Lets go then." The Orion woman started to move out when the gas started pouring through the vents in engineering she started choking and fell to the ground as the other henchman fell gasping for air, the lead woman moved over to the door and activated the panel.

Jones watched as the door slid open. "Get your ass out here with your hands up"

A hail of phaser fire and bullets erupted from the inside of engineering. "Get bent free spacer"

"Something tells me they're not too happy in there." Jan said, firing back.

A hail of phaser fire flew back as one of the mercs landed unconscious on the ground in front of them.

"Jan how long will it take for it to be fully effective on them? If we can just scrape up unconscious bodies, I'd rather do that."

"2 minutes." Jan said.

Jones fired in some covering phaser fire for the show of it. "Good we'll let them stew in it for a moment."

The orion woman was coughing, she could feel the room spinning around her, she reached down and grabbed a small breathing apparatus. She watched as the two other two laid on the ground laughing and passed out. She climbed up behind one the plasma conduits.

Jones watched the beautiful chaos. "Good work Jan, I'll have to keep that in mind for the next time we get boarded and held at gun point."

"Here, take this." Jan said, handing Jones a compact gas mask.

Walter took the mask and stuck it over his face and clicked the aimed his phaser into engineering and carefully moved forward but was immediately knocked down to the floor of engineering, cussing, and firing his phaser towards where he thought the slug that slammed into his shoulder came from. He pulled himself across the floor back to where Jan and Lottie where standing.

"I've got more where that came from, and I have half a mind just to blow this whole damn thing up." The woman yelled from behind her vantage point.

"Shit, she ain't bluffing, there's enough explosives strapped to the core to tear the ship in half." Jan said, scanning the room.

Hauling Walter into a sitting position Lottie bent over his bleeding shoulder pressing his large hands against the wound. "Great, that's just great." She muttered. "Hold still," she snapped at Jones tearing a chunk off her sleeve for him to press with.

"ahhh god damnit that hurts." Jones withered in pain as Lottie jammed the piece of cloth into the wound.

"And you can stop that whimpering, its just a flesh wound." she spoke over as he made to speak again. "And give me that," she scooped the mask off his face place it upon her own. "I'll but a hole in her since you clearly can't."

"In any other situation I'd come up with some kind of kinky comment to go along with that but just get her dead love." He held the bandage tighter to the wound.

"Keep an eye on him," Lottie half turned to Jan, "And don't worry I won't blow us all to Kingdom Come," she called over her shoulder before crossing into the gas filled room.

It was nothing more than a haze now drifting lazy life mist upon a river. Lottie could see the outline of the mercs around bought down by the gas, but the Orion woman had remained elusive. Holding her lone side grim ready at her side Lottie scanned the awkwardly shaped confides for her adversary. She caught a sight of the core - wired as Jan had said which didn't bode well.

Suddenly she caught movement in the corner of her eye, not wishing to become winged or a easy target Lottie instantly threw herself to the ground and took cover feeling a heat wave pass over her from the weapon discharge hitting the empty space behind her.

"Welcome to my parlor said the spider to the fly." The woman tried adjusting her targeting scanner to find the woman who had ducked in. "I'm glad you are a bit more agile then that old man I put a round into."

"Fairer fight. don't you think?" Lottie called out peering around her choice to cover for the other woman. She cocked her head slightly once she had located her: half standing, half sitting upon the plasma conduits. She'd have to do some very sharp shooting to miss blowing a hole in the ship herself.
"All this for some stupid stone. right? Hell I've even seen it, its nothing spacial. What did you really want?"

"It is about a little more the that but that is the primary contract, lets just say Jones and I have some history that he needs to pay up on, so the bounty on him is just a little bit of a bonus." She moved a little to try and get a clear shot of Lottie. "You turn him in I'll give you a cut of the profit"

To make her point that she was serious she fired a phaser round close to where Lottie was standing.

Shrinking back Lottie laughed hollowly. "You know if you hadn't just done that I would have given your offer some thought..."

Jones looked up at Jan. "Is there anything we can do to give Lottie and advantage, I don't know if you should be traipsing in after her."

"Agreed....Let me see.." Jan said, scanning engineering again.

"If Lottie can get the orion to move a few feet to the left, I can open one of the steam vents above her head, give her a blast of super-heated steam." Jan said, eying a nearby wall panel.

"I don't want you going in there, but that sounds like a good plan, ruin her day for sure."
Jones was starting to get a little light headed from the blood loss.

"I can open it from out here." Jan said.

"Excellent, that won't set off those charges will it?, didn't think steam and explosives went together well."

"Unless she involuntarily sets off the detonator, the steam won't set the bomb off. But Lottie needs to get her to move at least 4 feet to the left for this to be effective." Jan said.

"Damnit, is there any way to coax her over that way?" Jones checked his side arm. "I don't know how we are going to tell her to move her."

"No problem, there's a comm-line in the mask she took from you." Jan said, fiddling with some buttons on his coat sleeve.

"Lottie? Can you hear me?" Jan said, quietly.

Another flash of phaser fire raking the ground around Lottie's feet. She gasped, but not due to the fire but due the sudden voice speaking directly in her ear.
"Any louder and you'd be bloody shouting," she answered ducking her head down again.

"If you can get the orion to move 4 feet to the left, I have a surprise waiting for her." Jan said.

"I hope you don't plan to woo her with your charm," Lottie whispered back. "Granted it would be a surprise but not the one I was planning." Giving her weapon one last look over Lottie changed position. "I'll get her to move just hurry it up other wise I'll have a wound to match Jones."

"I'm waiting on you, you hurry the fuck up." Jan said, annoyed.

"Mind you manners," she retorted under-toned drawing in a deep breath, Holding it, she ran turning to shot over her shoulder every few strides before diving for shelter tempting the Orion out of hiding for a clear shot. Becoming bait was never Lottie's favorite job, but since Jones was hit and Valentine too wet behind the ears it didn't leave her much of a choice.

"Come bitch!" She shouted blindly weaving through engineering. "Can't you hit me?"

Seeing her opportunity to wound another one of her prey's friends. the woman repositioned herself out of her position and into a better firing aim, Lottie had run off behind one of the grates. "I have you now love." She raised her phaser to fire at Lottie.

Although masked Lottie could still see the bright green tone of the Orion's skin and the streak of phaser fire that followed, The accuracy would have been fatal if it hadn't been for the well timed action of Valentine.
Still Lottie threw herself backwards feeling the most terrible burning sensation across her right cheek through the face mask where the glancing blow had scorched her.

"Adios bitch." Jan said, turning the valve.

With a shrill scream, the steam and pressure descended on the orion woman, knocking her to the ground, and burning her almost instantly. She crawled out from under the steam vent and painfully tried to raise her arm to fire a the phaser but just there, in agonizing pain. "Fuck this... I.. I'm done." She screamed as tears welled down her face.

Jones tried moving but more blood was spewing from the wound in his shoulder. "Jan get in there, and see what you can do about the explosives, and kick her in the ribs for me."

"With pleasure, try not to bleed to death will ya?" Jan said, tossing Jones a small med pack.

Looking round her hiding place Lottie swore wrenching the useless mask from her face and dapped the raw wound. She watched almost in slow motion the Orion woman slump and roll from her elevated position onto the floor where she lay quite still.
She saw Jan cutting across the body stepping over after giving the woman a swift kick to examine the explosives. Lottie, meanwhile left him to it moving toward the exit again and kneel beside Jones whom looked rather drawn and pale.

"Come on," she said helping him to his feet. "Let's get you patched up before Death pencils you in for an appointment."

"Sounds like a plan." Jones stumbled to his feet grasping the medpack close to him and walking with Lottie down to the sick bay.
