595 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Session 6: Take 5
Timeline: In the future

"It was a massive fire fight, the crew shot one, two, six, ten people as they fell further back into the hideout. They made it all the way to the edge of oblivion.. all hope seemed lost they were prepared to make their last stand, locked in the armory. The rabble were outside pounding on the door, and they started cutting their way in. The Captain looked at his crew, and could hear the deafening roar of the onslaught just outside." The man paused for a moment, the little girl who was in her bed and had the covers pulled up to her nose, intently listened to every word.

"The captain pulled out a comm link, gave one final look at his friends and watched as they disappeared in a shimmer of light. Just as the mob had almost broken down the door, the valiant, handsome, brave, and courageous captain hit the button, BOOM!" The story teller slammed his foot on the floor to accentuate the story, nearly making the girl jump out of her bed. "Charges linked to the geologic structures inside the asteroid safe-house were detonated. Sending the bounty hunters, their ships and everything else into the great abyss." He closed up the book and looked at the small child laying in the bed. "What do you think?"

"But... but.. what happened to everyone? Lottie, and Jan, and the Doctor?" The little girl looked up with wide eyes at her uncle. "It seems like it just ended so quick.. and what happened to the Captain did he get blown up by the charges? And what about the ship?"

"Ohh, old space dogs never really die, especially in stories, the Captain had lots of other adventures, so did the rest of the crew but it is time for bed, your Mom is going to kill me when she finds out I let you stay up so late..." He stood up and moved over to the bed and tucked the girls blanket in around her.

"Where is Piggy?"

"Ohh.. umm.." He looked around and found the stuffed targ on the shelf. "Here you go sweetie." He put the stuffed animal down on her bed. "Don't let the space pirates get you and turn you in for bounty." He smiled at her and left the room, closing the door behind him. As he turned around, he was greeted by the angry stare of his sister Sheila.

"What were you telling her? My dear brother... hopefully not tales of your wild shenanigans..." Still in her gray Starfleet intelligence uniform, she looked tired.

"Ohh nothing too wild.. just the time that I had to get the crew and I declared dead to get the bounties cleared off of us, nothing major.. no blood and gore tonight." Walter smiled at his sister. "No worse than some of the things that you've done love."

"I'm glad that you were able to help out tonight, are you sure you can't stay for a bit longer?"

"No, I've got to head back out I think." Walter started down the stairs to the kitchen of the small home.

"Who is going to tell her the rest of the story? I sure am not going to be able to." Sheila went to the top of the the stairs and looked down.

"Well.. maybe I could stay a few more days. Got any bacon?" Walt looked back at his sister and smiled. "I guess the trade lanes aren't going anywhere huh?"

OOC: Ohh.. umm hey.. that little guy there.. don't mind that little guy. ;-)
