"But why do we have to leave!" The little Romulan girl shouted at her mother.

"T'Rehu, we've been over this, we are going on vacation! We'll be back in no time at all." The woman moved over to her daughter and knelt down. "We'll be back, I promise."

"But then why is everyone so worried about the star, and why is daddy telling everyone that they need to remain calm and stay on world." The little girl pulled away from her mother and moved over to the bed.

"That is just so that no one gets scared, and to stay strong." Nalah stood and closed the small trunk that she had been putting clothes into. "Senators need to calm the people, not throw them into hysterics. Your Father wants to make sure that the people know that we stand behind them."

"Then why are we leaving?" T'Rehu stomped on the ground.

"Because, well" She paused for a moment. "Because I said so!" The mother knew that line would only settle the girl for a short time. "Don't you think it will be fun to ride in a space ship? You've never been off world!"

"I suppose, do you think they'll let me fly it?"

"I'm sure they will let you, grab squiddy, and lets go make sure everything else is packed up!" Nalah grabbed the trunk, wheeling it into the other room.

"I understand the situation is reaching critical, I have a ship coming in within the next two days. I've contracted out for my family, a small contingent of staff and for some possessions. They say that the star is unstable as is, we need to get as many people off world as possible." Kaol looked worried as he spoke into the viewscreen.

"Senator, we don't have the ships to get everyone out in time. The people are starting to worry, there are reports of rioting. The rats know the ship is sinking and are looking for any plank of wood to get out on." A commander spoke in a hushed tone.

"Do what you can, Kaol out." The screen blinked off just as his wife and daughter entered the room.

"Daddy, do you think they'll let me captain the ship?" The little girl ran over to her father.

"Of course love! Of course! Are you packed? Do you have your Squiddy?"

"Yes right here!" She held the stuffed squid up to show her father.

"Great! Lets be off on our vacation, go get your coat on!" Kaol nudged his daughter to go into the other room as his wife moved to be next to him.

"How bad is it Kaol?"

"As it stands, most of the people on this planet are going to be dead within the week."

"Why don't you reach out to the Federation! Save as many as you can!" Nalah looked at her husband with a panicked look.

"We can't, you know that. All that is important is that we get off world." Kaol hugged his wife. "All that is important right now is that we live."
