Set 3: Session 1- Sold!
Location: Auction House - Bar one three two
"Your tab is due ma'am, one bar, ten slips." The bartender looked across at a well heeled woman, dressed in a large red gown, adorned with feathers and a peacock mask, who was entertaining several guests.
"Please, one bar, ten slips?" She scoffed as the others with her laughed. "I don't even make it out of bed to drink unless it is for two bars!" The woman leaned over with her thumb to press the padd that the bartender was holding. It beeped, and then beeped again.
"I'm sorry Ma'am, but the transaction was declined, do you have another thumb that you'd like to try?" The bartender handed the padd back to her.
"There must be some mistake. Do you know who I am?" She turned towards the bartender. Her eyes on fire with rage through the mask. "Run it again." She held out her thumb indignantly.
The machine beeped again. "I'm sorry Ma'am, but the transaction was declined. Do you have another method of payment?"
"I am Gertrude Pennybottom! I make a hundred times in a day what you make in a year! I want to see your manager." The woman folded her arms as the others began laughing at her, after a few moments the manager of the bar appeared.
"Ms. Pennybottom, I hear there is a misunderstanding." The manager, whom had a thin pencil mustache smiled at her.
"The only misunderstanding is that your employee here dares to tell me that my transaction was declined." The woman, whom now clearly embarrassed, slammed her hand down on the table.
"Well, allow me to try." The manager pushed a few buttons into the padd and handed it back. Pennybottom tried the imprint again.
"It had better work this time." She stomped her foot.
"I'm sorry ma'am, the machine is reading as declined. Perhaps you have another method of payment for this rather large bar tab." The manager sneered. "Or should I contact Auction House Security."
"I am Gertrude Pennybottom! And I have never been this insulted!" The members of her party all laughed at her.
"I'm sure we can." The manager paused as a loud Klaxxon sounded.
"Security measures in place, please proceed to the designated safe evacuation areas in the main lobby. Please move cautiously and carefully"
"Well, we can handle this situation privately after the security alert is resolved." The manager held up his hands. "Attention all, please move towards the exits and the main hall. All tabs will be billed appropriately!"
Gloria's "Friends" who were still laughing moved towards the exits while she stood among the crowd. "Stedelman, get over here!"
Through the crowd, a small, almost ethereal man walked over. "Yes boss."
"Find out what happened, I have almost ten thousand bars of latinum in a liquid account, the embarrassment that I just suffered will not happen again" Gloria spun and put her finger almost through the chest of Stedelman.
"No worries boss, I'll get to the bottom of it. In the meantime, let me escort you to safety." Stedelman offered his arm.
"I know where to go."
