1,094 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Session 4: The Humans are Dead...
Location: Lagash trade district

Jones watched as the car sped off with Jan to get his new eyes and was about to turn back into the Warden when another vehicle pulled up. Instinctively he began to reach into his coat when the voice yelled out to him.

"Walter Jones, I have a message for you from Ms Abono." The courier stepped out of the vehicle and walked over to him, carrying a pad. Jones took it and read it aloud to no one in particular.

"Ms. Abono requests your presence in her company for dinner and discussion of trade guild terms. The driver will provide transportation to the designated location." Jones looked at the driver who had moved back to the sleek silver vehicle and opened the rear suicide doors.

"Give me 20 minutes to get ready." Jones quickly moved into the ship and made a beeline for his room. "I wonder what the hell she wants..." Walter began rummaging through his clothes and produced the suit that Sky had given him. He quickly sniffed it and slinked back in disgust. Moving over to box in the corner, he opened the lid and threw the suit on

"Jones to Lottie, come to my quarters quickly, there isn't much time."

She really wanted to ignore Jones' call wishing to enjoy some more down time but judging from his tone she knew it was important. Lottie increased her pace arriving at Jones' door promptly, so quick in fact she turned her back at the sight before her and felt herself blush at Jones' nudity.

"Too quick?" she called.

"Yeah a bit." Jones said quickly throwing on his pants and shirt. "Alright, I'm decent." Walter was on the floor looking for his shoes.

Turning back around Lottie entering the untidy space fully and took comfort in hearing the door close behind her. She paused watching Jones scamble upon the floor: "What are you doing?"

"Well First of all love, I wanted to apologize. I actually have a present for you, but I know you like to keep that rough and tumble air to you, and well I know I would never here the end of it from the rest of the crew for what I am going to give you." Jones got up from the floor and over to the box that he had thrown his coat and shirt in. He pulled it out looking clean and fresh compared to the mess that it was prior.

Lottie squinted: "What is it?"

"Well, I picked it up back when we were back in the more civilized reaches of space." He gave up on trying to tie his tie and opened up on of the cabinets on the one side of the room revealing a long flowing white dress with red flowers that seemed to sparkle in the half light. "It doesn't fit me." Jones smiled at her. "This is your present but we have been summoned for a dinner with someone from the trade guild. As the official first mate I want you to come with me."

She was speechless, her mouth moving wordlessly for a moment or two while the news set in. "You bought this for me?" she felt touched by the gesture accepting the garment from him, feeling herself turn into butter at the soft fabric. "Its beautiful, thank you... hang on dinner - what?" she added coming out of the daydream. "Now?"

"Yes now, car waiting outside" Jones looked in the mirror at his stubble and decided to leave it. "I knew it was coming, but didn't realize that they would want us right after landing. "I think you'll look great in it, but we need to get ready, we got like ten minutes."

"Ten minutes!" Lottie said loudly wide eyed with horror. "Alright, you've got two choices 1) Help me into this - this - thing, or 2) GET OUT MY WAY!"

She moved swiftly to the mirror attempting to do something with her hair trying to recall the tips Sky had given her before her departure. But Sky was always so perfect, ten mineuts would be alright... right?

"I have a lot more experience taking them off then putting them back on but I think I might be able to figure it out, especially since we have about 9 minutes now." Jones moved over to her as she frantically tried to do something with her hair. He looked in the mirror over her shoulder and tried to straighten himself out a little bit.

She eyed him in the mirror. This wasn't really the image she had in mind for bearing all in front of him. She set her jaw thinking 'Sod it' to herself and stipped off.
"Yes, I know," she growlled feeling Jones stare. "Just hurry it up," Lottie undid the fiddle catch and slipped into the dress. "Zip me in, or whatever you have to do."

"It is purely that of an admirer of art and beauty." Jones knelt down and examine the fastening mechanism in the back of the dress, and found the small zipper the back and carefully pulled it to the top and fastened the hook at the top, snugging it to her skin. She looked amazing in the outfit, better then he hoped it would though this wasn't exactly the situation he was hoping to give it to her in. "Alright you are all good back here. How does it feel?"

Smoothing down the dressed Lottie eyed herself in the mirror feeling bewildered that the woman staring back was herself. She looked completely different, more feminine and curvy in the backless dress. "If I didn't know any better I'd say you measured me in my sleep, it fits perfectly."

"You look gorgeous." It was the only thing he could stammer out as he looked at her. "We um.. we gotta get going, I doubt we'll need them but grab a weapon." Jones went into his coat, grabbed his slug thrower and stuck it in his inside coat pocket. "I'd say maybe about a sixty seven percent chance that we won't need them." He stopped and looked at Lottie again, Sky would be proud.

"What about the remaining thirty three present?" She added extracting a small weapon from her previous garment and attempted to attach it to her person, unsuccessfully.
With an exasperated sigh she tossed the weapon onto Jones bed and eyed him seriously. "Since I can't carry anything you'd better watch my ass...." she paused watching him watching her. "What are you looking at? Come on we don't have time to stare!"
