Session 4: The Humans are Dead...
Location: Uotou Shopping Complex
“Did you hear about what happened to the Morioka family last week?†commented the lagashi woman sat opposite Meili across the table.
Meili shook her head in response, though if something had then her older sister Ai Mu no doubt knew, the girl was a born gossiper and just loved to know what was going on.
“Well†Ai Mu began with a hint of delight at being able to tell her tale, “Basically as you know Serah married Kiyoshi a couple of years ago, you know there was a big celebration at the park a level down from here†she began.
“I was so annoyed to arrive just after that, if only the ship had moved alittle faster†Meili commented in mild annoyance at the memory.
“Anyway they married this pretty one into the marriage to help look after the triplets. But turns out she has no interest being part of the family. The arbiter caught wind of it and has been round there†Ai Mu didn't miss a beat in continuing her story, the casual dismissal of Meili's thoughtful comment was to no surprise.
Meili had to raise a eyebrow at that tidbit of information, she couldn't remember the last time a arbiter had to investigate a marriage to confirm the participants had breached marital contract. Infact the last one had been from when Meili was just a child, it was just after she got her second upgrade of her ai system implanted into her head.
“I'm going to go out now†she informed her older sister who gave a wave in reponse before turning her attention to the new tattoo she had on her arm, Meili rolled her eyes at the sight and left her sister's home.
Meili was due to go to the trade guild later that day, a journey which wouldn't take long for the grav lifts weren't too busy at this time of day. Yet in somewhere like Earth the typical lagash city would be considered hectic 24-7, then again earth people had their cities sprawling on the ground whereas a Lagash city was contained in a large structure known as a arcology. Meili and most of her family lived in the Jade Sky acology, which was currently the tallest of all the arcologies. One of her brothers had moved to a acology some distance away though long distance transports meant the distance wasn't as big as it could be.
Meili climbed into the car and weaved into the traffic of the Jade Sky public transit system, stopping at the nearby shopping complex briefly to pick up a necklace she had commissioned to be made from the jeweller's there. A check of the time showed that it was nearly time for her to be heading to meet with the others at the trade guild. It was one that her father Hsu Lang had worked with before he had set out as a independent trader, hopefully she could get a foothold in off world trading properly by working with the guild.
Walking out of the complex she headed towards her car with the rectangle shaped box firmly in one hand, it would be so annoying to get it knocked away just after she had paid the last payment for it.
