Mission:
Session One - Jailhouse Rock
Location: Shuttle Bay
Jones walked down to the shuttle bay, he wanted to check to see how Summers was doing. Even though she wasn't officially part of the crew, she still was living on his ship. Walking in on the bay the door to her shuttle was open, he slowly stepped in and looked around at what she had done to it.
Lavish color drapes of red and gold hung from the walls and ceiling of the small compartment. A round over stuffed bed sat on one wall and a multitude of different sculptures and other exotic decorations lined every free space in the shuttle. It wasn't cluttered, but stylish.
"Captain", Sky emerged from the smaller side compartment. She was wearing a black and red sarong made from thick materials, and another length of the material was draped over her shoulder, covering her dignity. In her hands she was carrying a small porceline bowl with warm water and a cloth. "You caught me about to wash. What can I do for you?".
"I wanted to umm come down and see how you where settling in." He looked around at the shuttle craft and the the artwork and things that she had adorned it with. "I imagine a woman such as yourself must be fairly desperate to take a posting like this. A cargo freighter has to be the exact opposite of Risa.. well pretty much anywhere respectable really. Jones walked in a little further. "I can come back later if you want."
"No please, come in". Placing down the ceramic bowl on a delicate spinley table, she moved across to the hatch. "Would you like something to drink. Coffee maybe?".
The smile she cast seemed to warm the room.
She brought the Captain into the room fully and indicated he should sit down in one of the over comfortable chairs.
"Erm umm thanks. I could use some coffee." Walter sat down on the chair and sank down a few inches. "I wanted to come and talk to you about some of our flight plans. The current job that we have takes us towards a prison colony planet. There are some higher ranking officials around and such but I'm not sure if they are going to be up to your caliber." Jones looked around what used to be a drab shuttle craft. She certainly had a touch that could make things look good.
Producing a delicate small cup of hot coffee from the replicator, and some red leaf tea for herself, she moved back over to the Captain.
"What star system would we be in, and would we be staying in that system?"
Her mind was set soley on her job and how she would be able to make a living on this mission.
"The Siften system, we'll be there for a two days while we get the supplies and prisoners that we are to pick up. Then we are flying them to another Federation facility. They are going to let us know when we get there." Jones took a sip of the coffee. "This first mission is to get us on our feet and get some money so we can take some more mundane jobs hauling cargo and what not to some of the better parts of the Federation and beyond."
I didn't seem like ther would be much opportunity for her to make some money, but in some respects that didn't matter. It would give her the time she needed to get settled in fully.
"Thats fine Captain. When will we arrive and what sort of prisoners are they?"
"That is the thing that worries me, I haven't been given many specifics yet on who we are picking up." Jones took another sip of his coffee. "Such is the life of a cargo vessel. The contacts are paying to overhaul some of the cargo bays with forcefields so that is good. Shouldn't be much of a problem really, we've got enough arms on the boat that we should be good." Jones finished up his coffee. "This is good." He sat his cup down and looked at Sky, he still really didn't understand why someone has beautiful as her wanted to tromp around the galaxy with the likes of him and his crew. "So, what exactly brings you out here my dear?"
A smile blossomed across her features, making her even more seraphic than usual. "I want to hear everyones stories, and make a living along the way".
She sipped at the tea she had in her hand, and pulled at the robe that was coming away from her torso.
"So we are still unsure as to what sort of prisoners we are going to be carrying?"
"Right, from what I gather there is one that is more or less the main person we are going to be hauling. But the rest are going to be you typical lowlife scum, convicted for various nefarious reasons. Not exactly your clientel." Jones smiled at Sky, he couldn't get over how strikingly beautiful she was.
"I'll make a point to steer clear of the holding cells". She noticed the Captains lingering gaze, studying her features, her poise. It wasn't uncommon, but made her feel somewhat uncomfortable. Maybe it was the fact that she was his tenant, so to speak. "Is there anything I can do to make myself useful for the job. If I'm going to live here I might as well muck in".
She was genuine in her words and sincerity.
"Well..." He leaned back and looked at her. "You are probably the most cultured and attuned to the finer points of conversation then anyone else on the ship. I mean... a good phaser can do the same sometimes but you'd probably be cleaner about it. I'd like it if you could assist us if we need some fast talking. Well.. when we need it.. I'm just getting a bad feeling about this run."
"I'm sure we can come to some kind of arrangement". A final thought struck her. "If ever the need arises also Captain, I am a fully qualified pilot for a ship this size".
Captain Jones was a curious fellow to her. He looked like a freighter Captain, he acted like a freighter Captain, he even smelled like one, but Sky was too polite to mention that. However, the curiosity about him was his presence. He was refined in a gruff way, and very much the gentleman. Not once had he referred to her profession in a disparaging way.
"We may need it." He smiled at Sky. "You never know when you are going to have to jump out of a window and need a horse waiting for you underneath. Well.. I mean... you are not a horse... it is a metaphore..." Jones stood up. "Yeah.. now that I've made a fool of myself. I've got some plasma manifolds to take care of. Is there anything else I can do for you Sky?"
She stood, mirroring the Captains motions, and smiling at his inadvertant word salad.
"Nothing more than your word that we will be visiting some respectable worlds?"
There was no malice in her tone or anger in her stance. It was a simple statment.
"Of course, I give my word there is only so long we can stay on the outer fringe." Walter smiled at her then turn and walked out of the shuttle.
"Thank you Captain. Also it was a pleasure meeting you properly".
She allowed her new landlord leave with very little pomp and fuss that you would have in regards to a starfleet commanding officer. She could feel this was going to be good.
