Mission:
Session 7: Changes
Location: Tiny's Used Space Craft, Bajor
Timeline: Current
"Alright alright alright alright!" Jan said.
"300 Bars and I get to keep the plasma welder I found under the seat."
Tiny, an ironic name for a Ferengi that must of weighed north of 400 pounds, considered the offer while examining the file on the Federation Attack Fighter that he had salvaged years eariler, thinking of ways to drive up the price.
"Aside from the burns, this thing is in primo condition! It's worth twice that!" Tiny exclaimed.
"I find that to be utter bullshit, Tiny." Jan said.
"Disruptor damage, plasma relays fried, these impulse engines are in dire need of repair, and it only has dual phaser cannons, the torpedo launchers and other phaser cannons are gone. The craft the Maquis acquired were far better equipped." Jan said.
"Arrrg, fine! 350 bars!" Tiny said, tired of arguing over such a small craft, when there were other customers wanting larger vessels waiting in the lobby of his office.
"300, and this schematic for federation type 6 torpedoes." Jan said, producing an isolinear chip.
"Deal." Tiny said, snatching the chip eagerly.
"No Refunds, all trades are final, all craft come with a 50 thousand kilometer sublight warranty." Tiny said, drawing up the bill of sale quickly.
"I am required by law to do a background check on all individuals purchasing Federation technology." Tiny said, in a bored, uninterested tone.
"How 'bout that extra 50 bars you wanted and we skip that?" Jan said, dropping a small messenger bag with the payment in it onto Tiny's desk, making a loud clunk.
"You seem like an honest fellow. Your background check came in clear." Tiny said, eagerly counting his latinum.
Tiny put his newly acquired latinum into his safe and tossed a data pad to Jan. "Sign at the bottom and Federation 'Courier' vessel CB547 is yours." Tiny said, air quoting the word courier.
Jan quickly signed and handed the padd back to Tiny.
"Here's your key, enjoy your purchase." Tiny said, handing an isolinear chip to Jan.
"Thanks." Jan said, and left Tiny's office.
Jan chuckled to himself while beaming over to his newly acquired vessel. Hacking into Tiny's worthless little computer and switching files around had been a simple matter. Cb547 was another attack fighter in his inventory, but was a worthless junker. The ship Jan had just bought was a craft that had survived the dominon war with hardly a scratch, worth far more than the agreed upon amount.
"Computer, being start up sequence, and give me a diagnostic." Jan said, plugging the isolinear chip into the chip bank.
Aside from slightly overcooked thrusters and the torpedo launchers missing, the courier craft was in reasonably good condition for being laid up for several years.
"Well by now Tiny should be experiencing a computer meltdown, so it's time to get the hell out of dodge." Jan said, looking at his watch.
"Computer, bring warp engines online, set course for Deep Space Nine, warp 3." Jan said.
*Course laid in.*
"Engage." Jan said, scrolling through diagnostic reports.
-----24 hours later--------
A loud chime from the computer woke Jan with a start, causing him to hit his head on the console. Saving cash by sleeping on the ship was starting to look like a dumb idea.
*Message from Jones, Walter, to Valentine Jan, text only*
"Display." Jan said, pulling out a ration pack and tearing it open.
Jan read through the message, and smiled.
"Gettin' the band back together again. Let's hope it's fun." Jan said, firing up the engines.
"DS9 Docking control, this is courier shuttle Foxhound, request departure for New Bajor." Jan said.
"Clearance granted, releasing docking clamps."
"Let's see what this number one bargain can do." Jan said, heading towards the wormhole.
