434 words; about a 2 minute read

Mission: Session One - Jailhouse Rock
Location: Bridge
Timeline: Current

Mnheia was sitting at her science panel and looking around at all the bustle going on about the bridge. Everyone seemed to have something to do....except her. Realizing that she was not needed at this moment, she started to 'day-dream' about her past.

Mnheia saw herself as a child growing up on Vulcan. She saw her family, (how proper they were!), showing no emotion and trying to impart that art to Mnheia and Mnheia trying hard to please them. Only when she went into her intensive Kolinar classes years later did she fully understand and master the art of hiding her emotions.

In a fog, Mnheia's mind wondered to her Starfleet days. They were hard. Everyone was laughing and enjoying themselves....expect Mnheia. She was too busy studying. Mnheia's days and nights, week days and week-ends were filled with only that......studying. Eventually it paid off as she received the honor of graduating high up near the top of her class. The fact that she did not graduate at the very top was an embarrassment as far as she was concerned. But she recieved plum assignments because of the honor. Regardless if she was stationed on a starship or a space station, Mnheia kept to herself and studied more in an effort to learn as much as she could about the surrounding area. When she received the letter from StarFleet while she was talking a vacation while on her home planet of Vulcan, Mnheia had hurridly read the letter and then started packing.....completly missing the part of the letter that stated the ship she was being transfered to was a civilian ship. She cursed herself and told herself she had to slow down, that her hurried reading of the letter was only the result of being around humans for so many years.

Mnheia would never tell anyone, but she was happy. The crew members of this ship, this civilian ship, while they possessed different degrees of proficiency at thier chosen fields, they were pleasant. The fact that this was not a Starfleet ship.....well, there was not the discipline that she had found on a military ship....but Mnheia found that she responded to the more relaxed atmosphere.

But something was gnawing at the back of Mnheia's mind. She could not quite place it.

'It will come to me.....at 3 a.m.!' thought Mnheia to herself.

At that moment when the captain entered the bridge, Mnhiea's mind cleared, she came quicly back to the present and she sat up in her chair and turned full attention to what he might say.
