Mission: Interlude - SB 611
Jones walked down to the shuttle bay, he wanted to thank Sky for the help back on Flausten, they hadn't stayed long but it was still fun as much as Jones didn't want to admit it. He rang the chime that was installed on the outside of the shuttle and waited for a response. He should be able to just walk in, it was his ship after all, but he didn't want to upset Sky. She had become very valuable, and even though she wasn't a full member of the crew, Walter felt like she was.
"Please come in", she called from the recesses of her home. It was a small but now elegantly plush room with one of the most comfortable beds that even she had been lucky enough to spread out on. Now however she was draping a robe over her womanhood, covering just enough to not loose her modesty, but leaving enough uncovered to entice the men or women, closer to her.
Jones walked in and ducked underneath one of the bulkheads, he stepped into her shuttle, which was even more plush then the last time he was in here. The ins and outs of her profession still intrigued him, not for himself but for the clients that she would service. He pulled back on the curtain and looked at Sky, she really was amazing, and almost out of place here. "Thanks for inviting me in, hopefully we'll get you some work here on the station, a lot of the Feds seem to be uptight so some of them might need a release."
"Thats what I was hoping". Her voice seemed almost musical in nature and her usual spring had returned to her step now that she was closer to civilization once again. "So whats the next caper?"
"Not sure yet, probably going to be here for a bit, need to scrounge up a caper or two that pays halfway decently. Not all of us can work in the luxury that you do my dear." Jones said smiling as he looked at some of the trinkets that she had placed around the room.
In her own mind Sky wanted to retort with 'But atleast your life has meaning'. Instead she stayed her voice and remained silent.
Jones moved a little closer to Sky, "I wanted to come and proposition you for a job offer. Something that is right up your ally and may be the perfect use of your extensive." he paused for a moment to see if he had gotten any kind of reaction yet. "talents."
She couldn't tell, but she had a funny feeling that the Captain was barbing her. Again she stayed her voice on this matter and chose to accept the comment for what it was.
"What might that been good Captain?"
"Well, as you know when we are out in the free spacer, there isn't much work for you and I feel that your talents are wasted." Jones picked up one of the trinkets that looked like a bobble head. "You poses a certain charm and feminine mystique that none of the rest of possess, and you also seem to have access to knowledge that could be very beneficial." He kept trying to gauge her reaction as he spoke, and wasn't quite sure how she was going to take the question. "How would you feel about being a part of the crew, I mean, you are apart of the family already but, I feel kind of bad that when we are out in space you are kind of stuck here, you could at least be doing something worth while."
The question caught her off guard as she had expected this to be more of a fight of wits and insults about the others profession. Being invited to join the crew was certainly not what she had expected.
"I don't know what to say Captain", she fell silent for a moment and seemed lost in thought. "Would I be eligible for a full cut in the bounty but still be able to perform my own business when we visit hospitable worlds?"
Jones thought for a moment about the prospect, "You'd still have to lease out the shuttle since you would be using it for personal use, but what you do on your own time is your own business, as long as it doesn't interfere with the operations of the ship as a whole I don't care. You'd get the standard 10% cut with everyone else." He moved a little closer to Sky, maybe he could use her to gather intel or something, he was pretty sure that this was going to be a good move but you don't get anywhere in this world without having a bit of doubt in the back of your mind. "Can't make exceptions for ya love, if we have to do the skeedadle and you are "entertaining something" I'll promise to not throw them out an airlock but.. well you understand."
"It looks like we have an accord", she extended her delicate hand to take the Captains and finalize the agreement with a hand shake.
She began to think to herself that it was funny how life through you a curve ball from time to time, but this one certainly took the biscuit.
He shook Sky's hand and shook it. "Alright, well like I said we'll be in dock for a days. If in your spare time you hear of some work feel free to investigate it." Jones smiled as he started walking out of the small shuttle. He paused before opening the door. "It is good to have you on board."
