Mission:
Session 5: Rush
Location: Trade guild headquarters - Lagash
ON:
It had been a rough night, the dinner hadn't gone nearly as well as she hoped and almost dying was an added hazard. Her makeshift office was quiet, the hum of an EM conduit behind one of the walls was the only sound. A few trinkets adorned her desk and the walls, all considered, it wasn't a bad temporary office, but she couldn't wait to get back. As Akiko flipped through some reports and trade contracts when a knock on her office door broke her attention.
"Yes, come in."
"Ms. Abono, there is a Ms. Meili Hsu here to see you." Bogden, her assistant poked his head in.
"Send her in." Akiko placed the documents on the side desk.
"Right away." Bogden closed the door and met the young woman in the antechamber. "Ms Abono will see you now."
Meili walked past Bogden and into the office, bowing her head as she stood infront of Abono. "Thank you" she murmured in the moment that she looked directly at the woman in front of her again.
The thanks was simply for Abono using up some of her time on Meili, it was polite to indicate so especially when faced with the person that potentially held your future in their hands.
"How are you?" she enquired.
"Well considering the events of last night well." She smiled politely at the woman in front of her. This would be a nice diversion from what was really on her mind. She extended her hand in a gesture of offering the chair in front of the desk. "I have been nothing but amazed by your planet since I've been here. Truly remarkable, not as stuffy as some of the other Federation planets I've been on. I'm sure you don't want to hear me prattle on about this though. What can the guild, and as an extension of the guild, myself do for you?"
"Thanks, I've heard people use the B word alot on Earth when I went there so meeting people that like Lagash is refreshing" just thinking the word borg made her blood boil. Oh you are technologically enchance you must be a borg, there were a few federation ideals that were close to the borg than the Lagashi ever were.
"Despite the awe my planet can install, I am wanting to push out into Trading more than I am now, is it within your ability to give me a place on a ship? it would help develop more off world trading contacts for the guild" and now Meili had moved into what she had been wanting to do for a while.
Akiko looked at the young Lagashi woman, sizing her up. "I may have something that might be great for your talent set, though I must warn you, thre captain and first mate are a bit rough around the edges." The woman pushed a button on the desk and brought up the specs for the SS. Warden. "She's a cargo hauler, registered to one Walter Jones."
Meili leant in to look at the specs, her eyes skimming over the information available, the fascination clear in her enhanced eyes. The system looked a little outdated but that gave her something to work on as long term project. "Rough around the edges huh? won't be anything I can't handle" her eyes twinkled with amusement, oh yes there was plenty you could do to sand down those rough edges.
"There is one other thing before I contact him. Captain Jones isn't exactly a traditional captain, he has some quirks." Akiko pulled up his data file. "Profitable, charismatic and a pain in my ass." She turned to Meili, "Though if you are looking to get out in the verse he is going to be your best ticket."
She pulled up a comm link and the ragged Jones appeared on the screen. He was sitting on the bridge of the Warden. "Akiko, I'm surprised to see you so soon after almost getting me killed."
"Cut it Walter, I have an opportunity for you. According to your manifest, you are currently without a computer specialist. I just so happen to have one that is looking for work. This is Meili Hsu."
"I hear you had a rough night captain, you kick lady luck in the lady parts or something?" Meili grinned as she delivered her greeting. A bold comment to make though the young Lagashi could be blunt like that.
"Yeah, to say the least." Jones leaned in to the screen a bit to get a better look at the girl standing next to Akiko. "Well if Kiki is vouching for you, then you'll be fine, either that or she's planning on using you to kill me, I'll take my chances with the former though."
Akiko looked over at the girl. "His bark is far worse then his bite."
"You would know." Walter winked at her. "Ms. Hsu, you'll get 10% of net, including room and board on the ship and bonus opportunities when they arise. You'll also have a say on ship matters too. Sound good?"
"Sounds Interesting" Meili raised a eyerbrow at the exchange between the pair, "so with everything sounding above board. When would be ideal to hook up with the Warden?"
"We are about to dock with mining outpost 7 zeta, I'm sure Kiki can fill you in on the rest. Should only take you about a day to get here, it took us three but we can't only do warp six." Jones rubbed his chin. "We'll be here for a few days unless things get harry. Jones out."
The screen flashed off and Akiko turned to the young girl in front of her. "Still interested?" She tossed a pad across the desk. "There are the co-ordinates of the mining outpost. It is a guild station so you shouldn't have any issue getting in."
Picking up the pad she glanced to Akiko, "I have a feeling it won't be a dull ship to be on, the ruined dinner is evidence of that enough. A few bumps along the road to keep things interesting. Think I'll strip their security systems and build them back up. I bet what they have now won't be the best, let any clueless moron jump in"
"Thanks I won't forget this opportunity for as a old saying goes 'Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses.'"
Meili Hsu bowed to Akiko before stepping away and leaving the office, it had been a fair day that day and soon she would on her way into a new future that promised to be a interesting one.
